  • Description:
    • Math courses taken at other schools that are not already on this list should be petitioned for equivalency.
    • Note that our faculty do not review equivalency for courses below the level of calculus (College Algebra, Precalculus, etc.).
    • A course must be UC Transferable, as determined by the Office of Admissions, in order to be eligible for equivalency.
    • Transfer equivalency petitions are reviewed by the Articulation Committee faculty and the Department Vice Chair.
  • Required Documents:
    • Students must upload a syllabus (with specific lecture topics, exam details, and textbook/chapter information) with their petition for our faculty to review.
    • If not included in the syllabus, upload a copy of the weekly lecture topics.
    • If not included in the syllabus, upload a copy of the textbook table of contents chapter information.
  • Submission:
    • Submit these petition requests to the Math Department through the online petition portal.
    • Expect 2-3 weeks for full review.
  • Evaluation Criteria:
    • Petitioned courses are subject to the Articulation Committee's evaluation of the course content and quality.
    • Quality evaluations may include determinations based on the course's length, rigor of grading standards, student-professor engagement hours, and modality of exams.
    • Online courses that do not have proctored, in-person exams will most likely be disapproved in the quality evaluation.
  • Resubmission Appeals:
    • Resubmissions for transfer equivalency disapprovals are only allowed if new, relevant material is submitted. All other resubmissions will be closed.
