Finding Jobs
Abstract:
We will have four panelists who have recently found jobs: Kristin Jehring, Assistant Professor, tenure track at St Mary's College, Indiana, Andy Niedermaier, Jane Street Capital, New York City, Mike Kinnally, Metron, a scientific consulting company in Reston, Virginia and Nate Eldredge, postdoc at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. They will describe their experiences applying for a job. Some of the questions they will answer are: How many applications should I send out? How do I prepare for an interview? What should I write in my cover letter and resume? What are important qualifications for a teaching job, postdoc job, tenure track research job and job in industry? The discussion will be followed by a question and answer period.
